Calgary’s Best Burger Spots

As Albertans, we love our meat, and sometimes there is no better way to enjoy it than in burger form. For those days that barbequing at home is not an option, the following are our picks for the best burgers in the city…

Ship and Anchor
Generally frequented for their pints and epic patio, Ship and Anchor offers a classic burger. Loaded with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo, we suggest adding cheese and bacon. There’s something about the unpretentious attitude in the Ship that makes the burger approachable and fantastic. Of course being able to wash it down with your favourite pint may add to the experience.

Model Milk
A popular spot on 17 Ave, Model Milk offers one delicious burger. They are one of the only places in the city to ask for how you would like the meat cooked, ensuring your patty’s rareness is as satisfactory as any steak in the city. The morel mushroom ragout and cheese curds included as toppings ensure that the flavours, texture and experience are a one of a kind.

Clive Burger
The menu at this ‘fast food joint’ on 17 Ave. (736 17 Ave SW) is seriously simple. At Clive Burger you choose the number of patties (the beef comes from Spring Creek Ranch cattle, so you know that it is antibiotic-free), and your fixins include everything from cheese to ‘Clive Sauce’ and sauerkraut. For those with dietary restrictions, they also offer vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Alley Burger
One of the first food trucks on the scene in Calgary, Alley Burger hit the streets courtsey of Charcut, a beloved nationwide resto based in Calgary. Alley burgers features Spring Creek Beef Chuck as well as signature hand-cut duck fat-fried potatoes and poutine with Quebec cheese curds, making it worthwhile to follow them on Twitter to find out where they are parking throughout the day.
