When an invitation arrives in one’s inbox for something called the “Crazy Little Party,” it’s worth serious consideration for prime social calendar placement.
With IDS West in town, the country’s biggest movers and shakers in the design world were on hand and ready to celebrate. Montauk has hosted this event only twice before, but it has already become one of the most talked-about parties of the IDS West weekend.
After checking in with a strictly managed guest list at the door, a tray of champagne was promptly offered up, followed closely by hors d’oeuvres from Gastown neighbouring hot spot Cork & Fin. Music filled the room care of DJ Emilita, presiding over the crowd from a second-floor balcony.
With great tunes wafting throught the enormous space, guests mingled between the two floors, artfully designed to showcase the coveted designs Montauk is known for.
Not surprisingly, there was no shortage of seating for guests to lounge upon. Bespoke design was just as apparent when observing the crowd, where guests were covered in everything from fine fur to tattoos. It was definitely a design-savvy crowd, make no mistake.
What’s in a name? “Crazy” is an awfully relative term, but Montauk can be certain that after the buzz of another much-talked about fete, this annual party is not likely to remain “little” for much longer.
