LG Reveals Magnetic, Wallpaper-Like TV Concept

It doesn’t get more “flatscreen” than LG’s latest talking point.

Last week the company showcased a micro-thin 55-inch TV with a flexible screen that sticks to your walls via magnets.

The millimetre-thick (yes, MILLIMETRE) screen features a magnetic pad that makes mounting your TV as simple as placing a magnet on the fridge, pasting wallpaper, or slapping a sticky note on a coworker’s desk. (Except, you know, it’s a freaking TV.) It’s also super flexible, making it simple to peel off a magnetic mat attached to the wall.

As of now, however, it’s just a concept. It remains unknown when or if such a product will hit the market.

Apparently, the main point of the announcement was to announce LG’s future plans to focus on making OLED screens for products moving forward. Compared to LG’s current flagship 55-inch, 4.3 mm thick OLED TV (released earlier this year), the new panel is 0.97 mm thick and weighs just 1.9 kg (4.1 lb).

Though it’s future remains undetermined, we have a feeling that the idea may just “stick.”
