Whitecourt, Alberta’s tourism industry just got a major boost.
A local gas station in the town of 10,000 people has just been recognized as having Canada’s best bathroom.
The Esso Super Station facilities won a nationwide competition that saw 43,000 people vote.

“Public restrooms don’t typically get a lot of praise, which is why we’re proud to honour Whitecourt for its stylish stalls and commitment to cleanliness,” said Jillian Bauer of Cintas Corporation, which hosted the contest.
“Whitecourt is the perfect example of a small town rallying around a business that is dedicated to providing clean and well-maintained restrooms.”
Restrooms were evaluated on cleanliness, visual appeal and unique design elements, of which Whitecourt Esso has plenty. Some say you step inside and don’t feel like you’re in gas station at all.

“Customers appreciate that they can count on us for a clean place to stop and use the washroom, which is why we pride ourselves on the elegance and maintenance of our facility,” Super Station owner Landon Hommy said in a press release.
And there’s plenty more excitement where that came from:
