Fall Getaways: Fly From YYC to These US Hotspots for Under $450

Fall is a great time to travel – especially in North America.

While winter is looming over Calgary in October, the temperatures throughout the US of A stay a bit warmer a bit longer, which means you can squeeze a few more wears out of your favorite fall (or even summer) clothes.

Fashion aside, pretty much every professional sport is in season, kids are in school, and the major tourist spots are generally less busy. If you need any more convincing, the prices are surprisingly low for getaways in advance of Christmas.

So if you’re looking for a quick trip where flights will cost you less than heading to eastern Canada, consider these tempting destinations.

Maui, Hawaii
Let’s be honest, it shouldn’t take much to sell you on a trip to a volcanic island paradise. Maui has world-class resorts and food in Ka’anapali, adorable surf towns like Paia, incredible hiking in Haleakala National Park, and epic beach parties in Wailea. Say aloha to Kahului Airport (OGG) for only $420 in November.

Dallas, Texas
Missing Stampede already? Dallas keeps the honky tonks open all year round just for people like you. Sports fans will also rejoice hearing that United (hold onto your bags) flies to DFW for as low as $268 round-trip.

Orange County, California
If you haven’t ventured south of LA on the 405, you’ve never really done SoCal. Some of the country’s most Instagram-worthy beaches, piers and harbours, fantastic boutique shopping, and, dare we say it, Disneyland, make this a perfect extended weekend trip. Get yourself to Santa Ana (SNA) and you can live like your guilty-pleasure best buds from The Hills/Laguna Beach/The OC for a surprisingly low $309.

Chicago, Illinois
So you may need to grab a K-Way jacket before you go, but the Windy City is definitely a great option for a sports, music, or shopping filled getaway this fall. Get there for $322.

New York, New York
We already gave you lots of reasons to hit the Big Apple this fall, and now you can take our advice for a ridiculously low $340.

Florida
Regardless of your style, Florida is a bit of a no-brainer hotspot. Hit Miami, Orlando, Tampa, or Fort Lauderdale all for around $400. Your fading tan will thank you.

Arizona
Chances are if you live in Calgary, you know someone who knows someone with a sweet vacation home near Phoenix. Good news: it’s finally “cool enough” to take advantage of it. Golf, pro sports, and a little hole in the ground called the Grand Canyon should all be a lot more comfortable right about now. Your bank balance will be, too, when you only have to pay $291 for a flight.
