You Can Now Design Your Own Wedding Dress and Try it on at Home

There’s a new e-commerce site that redefines the wedding dress experience.

And it’s perfect if you’re a bit of a homebody.

Giving wedding dress shopping a convenient twist, the site lets you custom design your own wedding dress, then they ship it to you to try on at home.

At Floravere, you get to pick from seven different dress silhouettes that are named after some fierce and fabulous female characters, ranging from Juliet in Romeo and Juliet to Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls.

You can choose up to three different silhouettes to be shipped to your house, in one of two sizes – XS/S or M/L. The actual dresses range from 0-12.

The whole initial shipment costs $45 – a cost that goes toward the cost of the dress if you decide to purchase it.

Once you choose your favourite from the samples, you send them all back and move on the always fun customization details – things like sleeve and train length, crystal detailing, and initial embroidering.

The whole process will take you three to four months, significantly shorter than the time it would take to do it the old-fashioned way in a bridal boutique.

The best part is that the dresses are already relatively affordable, all costing under $4,000.

Sure, some may argue that dress shopping with your mom, sister and BFFs is all part of the wedding prep and bridal party bonding experience, but if you’re looking for an easy way to save time and money, it’s certainly an attractive alternative.

Of course, the dress is only one part of the often overwhelming wedding planning process, so if you’re in search of a venue, here are some of our favorites in Toronto and Montreal.
