These Are the Most Liked Photos in Instagram History – and the Most Insta’d Locations

It’s hard to believe but today marks Instagram’s fifth birthday.

For many of us, it’s become so embedded in our every day lives that it’s easy to forget we once lived in a time without Mayfair, Sierra, and Nashville (which no one has used since 2011).

In the past five years, more than 40 billion photos have been shared, and the community has attracted more than 400 million users.

Think of all the photos your grandparents took in their lifetime and consider that you’ve probably taken more bathroom selfies in the past 12 months.

Some posts are more original than others, and some subsequently perform better than others when it comes to ‘likes.’

As it turns out though, some places in the world get a hell of a lot more Instagram love than others. According to Travel and Leisure, these are the top ten most geo-tagged locations across the globe.
