Doing This Nice Thing in Your Spare Time Could Help You Have More Sex

Has your sex life been lacking lately? Well, there’s an easy “feel-good” solution.

As it turns out, you just need to be more generous – and not even between the sheets.

According to two studies (offering double confirmation) published in the British Journal of Psychology, those who are actively involved in charity work have more sex.

In the first study, 297 single men and women were asked how much charity work they do, and how often they have sex. As it turns out, the more charity work both sexes do, the more people they have sex with in a lifetime.

Men who did volunteer work were especially likely to have more sexual partners, while the women who were active in charity circles were found to receive more sexual attention that those who aren’t.

Of course, the first study was based solely on the personal accounts of individuals. For that reason, a second follow-up study was needed.

In the second study, subjects were given $100 and given the choice to either keep the money or donate part or all to charity.

The men and women who donated most or all of the money had more sexual partners over their lifetime – and even within the past year.

Once again, the ‘more partners’ effect was higher for the males, who also dated more people when they were more generous and charitable. Meanwhile, the frequency of sex was especially impacted for women.

According to the authors, it could all come down to evolution. “Altruism is a costly signal of desirable qualities, such that it could have evolved by sexual selection,” they write. In basic terms: being a good person is attractive.

Of course, it could also have something to do with the notion that the generosity would continue into the bedroom.

Not to mention, if you’re involved in a charity board or a charity event planning committee, you’ll naturally meet more like-minded people, increasing your odds for developing a romantic relationship.
