Airbnb Released Its 9 ‘Most Wished For’ Properties in the World

Over the past few years, Airbnb has changed the way we have gone on vacation.

The online booking site has introduced us to neighbourhoods we may never have chosen to visit, as well as giving us the opportunity to stay in some homes so elaborate we could usually only afford to stay their in our dreams.

Well, Airbnb recently looked at its own data to determine the most wished-for properties, which showed that users are lusting after more unique and the eccentric properties (clearly, one place looks like a giant sea shell).

And according to Business Insiderthese is nine properties that are extremely hard to get into because they’re so popular.

From a tree house overlooking Tuscany to a “mushroom villa” in Bali, there’s no shortage of spectacular pads you can rent out for your own staycation.

Here are the Airbnb properties that the most people wish for, as measured by how many people added them to their online wish list.


1. Atlanta Tree House
Cost: $518 CAD per night

The most wished for destination on Airbnb is an elevated tree house just minutes from downtown Atlanta. There are three separate tree houses that joins the bedroom with the living room and an outdoor sitting area. This secluded getaway is nestled amongst lush greenery and the rooms are beautifully furnished with antiques and natural artifacts.


2. Mexico Seashell House
Cost: $368 CAD per night
Located in Casa Caracol in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, this stunning space looks like a giant seashell on the outside. The  ocean theme continues inside with each room looking like it’s been designed by Ariel in A Little Mermaid. Guests have access to a private pool and are just steps away from a secluded sandy beach.


3. Florence Tree House
Cost: $403 CAD per night

CasaBARTHEL is the perfect Italian getaway spot as it’s only 20 minutes from the historic Duomo and an hour away from Siena. Guests will enjoy waking up to the beautiful Tuscan countryside, wandering through the olive trees, and dining at the intimate garden kitchen.


4. Mayne Island Cottage
Cost: $140 CAD per night
For those looking for a relaxing cottage retreat free from hectic city life, you need to check out the cozy Cob Cottage on Mayne Island in beautiful British Columbia. The entire structure is built out of natural materials and is a 20 minute walk from the ocean.


5. Italian Tree Nest
Cost: $225 CAD a night
For a a romatic getaway, book a stay at the tree nest in San Salvatore Monferrato, Italy. Surrounded by lush gardens, linden trees, and an aromatic herb garden, the tree retreat looks over the rolling hills and features both a solarium and swimming pool.


6.  California Mushroom Cottage
Cost: $163 CAD per night

Hidden in the woods of Aptos, California, this is the perfect retreat for nature lovers. The cottage is located on a 10-acre property that’s perfect for exploring. There’s also a quaint deck attached to the cottage that’s surrounded by oak and madrone trees, acting as an ideal spot to hangout and watch the hummingbirds fly by.


7. Los Angeles Pirate Retreat
Cost: $141 CAD per night

Tucked away in the Topanga Canyon, this Pirates of the Caribbean inspired retreat is the perfect spot for those looking for a tropical themed getaway that’s close to the beach but still in a large city. The impressive property features mini waterfalls, pools, and a romantic jacuzzi.


8. Indonesia Mushroom Villa
Cost: $110 CAD a night
