This Is the Age That Women Feel Their Sexiest

At a time when many females are chasing their youth with everything from Botox and fillers to fashion and lifestyle (hello, Peter Pan syndrome), there is now some positive news for millennial women.

Like a fine wine, women are now feeling their sexiest as they age, in their mid-thirties – at 34, to be specific.

As reported by The Sun, a new study by UK clothing retailer House of Fraser asked 2,000 British women to share how sexy they felt at different ages. As it turns out, the majority of women actually feel sexier with age and experience. Not surprisingly, of the women surveyed who were in their thirties, 64 per cent attributed their sexiness to becoming more confident as they get older. Thirty-four per cent said they felt sexier because they were in a better relationship.

But it’s not just about general confidence and being in healthier relationships. Of the 30-somethings surveyed for the House of Fraser study, the majority said that feeling sexy was also the result of feeling more confident (and likely, experienced) in the bedroom, as well as having higher sex drives than when they were younger.

The findings makes sense. In my personal opinion, one’s mid-twenties are a time of heightened angst and insecurity in everything from your career choice to those “bad choices” we’ve all made in the romance department. These things can take a toll on your self-esteem.

By the time you near your late twenties and early thirties, the ability to sit comfortably in your own skin, accompanied by an “I don’t give a sh*t what anyone thinks anymore” mentality, can work wonders for your confidence (and subsequently, how sexy you feel).

Trust me, it’s not just a cliche.

women, sexy age

While the 30-something females are becoming more comfortable and confident in their bodies, it seems that many females in their teens and twenties are less secure and happy with theirs than ever before. They edit their social media shots to perfect any perceived “flaws,” and rely on things like crash diets (to achieve that “thigh gap”), hair extensions, eyelash extensions, and lip injections thanks to a Kardashian culture that definitely wasn’t as prevalent when today’s thirty-something women were their age.

Hopefully, though, their time will come.

“It’s great to see from the results of our research that so many women feel confident and sexy whatever their age,” said a spokeswoman from House of Fraser. “However, it is interesting that 34 is the age we feel at the pinnacle of our sexual confidence.”

If 34 has come and gone, not to worry.

The research also revealed a list of triggers that make females feel sexier at any age. These include knowing that someone finds you attractive (52 per cent), getting a compliment from your significant other (46 per cent), wearing a new outfit (38 per cent), and buying sexy new underwear (37 per cent).

If you’re in need of a confidence boost, all you need could be a good, old-fashioned girls’ night out: 30 per cent of women feel sexier on a night out with the ladies than they do on a night out with their significant other. Furthermore, 18 per cent of women admitted that they feel sexier in general around other women than with men.

If you need more reassurance when it comes to aging, you could always take a few pointers from the ever-ageless Brooke Burke.
