Elevator Pitch: Describe your job in a nutshell.
Describe your job in a nutshell. As Director of Sponsorship & Event Marketing, my job is to fund, market and execute events on behalf of the Canadian communications industry. My primary focus is Advertising and Marketing Week Canada

Why did you start working at your company? What was the inspiration for this career route?
I started working at the ICA because it has given me an opportunity to use all of my combined education and experience working with a broad range of people in Marketing & Communications. My inspiration came from getting to build something (Advertising Week) from the ground up. It has been amazing to watch my ideas and hard work come fruition over the past five years.

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
The best part of my day is interacting with the amazing network of people I’m in constant contact with. I have the pleasure of working with all the sides of the business, from agency leads to clients and media. Dynamic, smart people have always inspired me, and I deal with people like that every day. The most challenging part is finding the time to manage all the relationships I have built. Considering the volume of constant communication that is required to oversee all the aspects of my job, I’ve had to really hone my multi-tasking abilities. I would love to have a few more hours tacked on to every day.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself working with inspirational people, always being challenged, and doing forward thinking-work with clients and partners who value thought leadership.

What does success look like to you?
Sunshine and lollipops of course! Success to me is measured by the continuous growth and expansion of the business relationships I’ve built.

What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
Landing my first event marketing role in Toronto. I had worked in promotions in the hospitality industry (nightclubs and the beer industry) but that first corporate job opened up so many doors and led me to all my current success.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Do what you love and put everything you’ve got into it. Passion and hard work will always pay off in the end.

Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
I support many charities, but breast cancer and MS are both close to my heart.

What to you is notable?
Candor, humour and honesty

Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
Definitely iPhone.
