Elevator Pitch: Describe your job in a nutshell.
I’m a Troublemaker at A Thinking Ape, making sure we hire the best engineers and keep them happy.
Why did you start working at your company? What was the inspiration for this career route?
I’ve been working at ATA for a year now. When I started, we were at 9 employees and now we are almost at 40. I am constantly inspired by my teams drive to get things done … Not to mention their passion and quirkiness.
What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
Everyday is unique. When you work at a startup, you tend to wear multiple hats and end up collaborating on many things. For example, one day I might be in a room providing insight on a paper prototype session for a new game or in our sound room auditioning for a voiceover role. It’s exciting. The most challenging part at times is turning off. Because we live in a constantly connected world, it’s super easy to always be available.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Personal – some kids, husband and a passion inspired lifestyle business.
Professional – continuing to grow A Thinking Ape into a premier technology company where engineers want to work.
What does success look like to you?
To me, success is being able to work on something with smart people that I am passionate about.
What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
Taking the leap from a job in hospitality to a job in tech startup.
Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Surround yourself with smart and motivated people. My founder said something that really resonated with me – “When smart people meet smart people, sh*t happens.”
