YPDaily: Carrie Lynn Neales

Carrie-Lynn Neales is a Toronto-based actress currently on a comedy series on City called ‘Seed’, working in film and television, as well as on stage. What was the inspiration behind her career route? Find out in today’s YPDaily…

Why did you start working at your company? What was the inspiration for this career route?
I started dancing at three years old and fell in love with being on stage. I will shamelessly say that the turning point came when I was 14 years old and sat in the audience of a sold out showing of Titanic. Everyone in that theatre was a weeping mess. I said to my mom (who was my date), “I wanna be able to affect a whole group of strangers like that.”

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
The best part is that I get to play make-believe all day. I meet new people and get to fall in love with them instantly, or hate them deeply, or anything in between. The most challenging part is staying motivated when the work isn’t there and quieting the inner critic.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself working hard and doing work I believe in.

What does success look like to you?
Success to me is measured by personal growth. If I can learn from an experience, even if it seems like a failure, I have succeeded. Staying true to myself, loving what I do, and making my parents proud is success.

What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
There have been so many milestones over the years. The most memorable would have to be playing Rose on Seed. It was a year to the day before I booked the role when I nearly gave up entirely but fought hard and worked hard and it paid off.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Work hard. Keep your eye on the prize.

Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
I am in the process of beginning to work with a woman’s cancer charity. I have lost friends and family too soon to cancer and watched my mom battle and thankfully survive.

What to you is notable?
Good people working hard and doing good things in this world.

Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
iPhone all the way!
