YP Style Profile: Charlotte Piché

Charlotte loves playing with fire and making jewelry. If she catches you smiling at any of her bracelets, chances are she will take it off and give it to you on the spot. This whimsical beauty is on the road to becoming a master in the medieval art of metalsmithing. Launching a brand is definitely in the works! In the past, she has predominantly done personal sales or sold to boutiques such as James, but wants to showcase her dreamy collection to other high-end boutiques and independent shops.

You can follow her raw creations, inspirations, and ideas on her tumblr deuxlions, which she will actively be using soon!

Job: Brand Manager at Canadian Gem, a leading pearl supplier for high-end retailers like Birks.

Currently wearing: Lots of layers! Zara leather jacket, Vince sweater, Salvation Army jean jacket, Kavanagh’s vintage fur vest, Forever 21 polka dot top, Zara leather pants, Topshop shoes, La Fée Verte bra (too much information?), Kavanagh’s vintage store necklace. Bracelets and rings: her own creations, except for a yellow gold and chrysophrase ring that is Right Hand Gal (love!), Celine purse and a Henri Henri hat (the oldest and most awesome hat shop in Montreal).

Favourite labels: I don’t shop that much, but I love IRO. It’s the perfect combination of a sophisticated, hot mess. It’s also a bit tomboy, which I love. Kinglsey is a line of sweaters that my great friends at James Boutique are launching and I swear I have never touched cashmere this soft. Overall I don’t usually buy labels, I really love vintage clothes. My favourite vintage store is called Kavanagh’s in NDG, which I go to often because it’s attached to my favourite Irish pub…

Fashion and beauty pet peeves: I don’t really have any. I think fashion is about wearing whatever the hell makes you feel good so who am I to look down on anyone for having the confidence to do so? But if you really must know, it would be when classics are recreated cheaply. I’m such a fan of good quality authentic hats, leather jackets, old army coats…

What’s in her closet? : Charlotte finds a special meaning in every item she discovers; she loves treasure hunting…“I just bought a leopard jacket. I’ve wanted one for a long time (as any girl infatuated by Edie Sedgwick would), but after watching True Romance recently, I went on an aggressive hunt and bought the first one I could find.” I also own a truck load of wool sweaters from Ireland and the Salvation Army, as well as some I stole from my brothers. Let’s see, what else? Oh! My mom’s doc martins and black converse from the 80s. Fur, lots and lots of fur… The tall moto skinny jeans from Topshop in every color and pattern (the black floral ones are my secret favourite). I’ve also “acquired” awesome band shirts from countless boys and girls over the years… (sorry guys)”.

Cities that influence her style: “Montreal inspires me because while, there is every culture, there is also every landscape. I’m living in St-Henri until I relocate to Brooklyn for design courses, and this area really inspires me because it’s the perfect overlap of everything that I love; inspiring graffiti, industrial buildings, horse stables, markets, the canal, authentic little dinners and bakeries, etc.” This tongue-in-cheek kind of gal also loves hanging out at her cottage and at her parent’s beach house in Maine. “These two places are amazing because of the lifestyle they portray; laid back and free spirited. Both involve ripped jean shorts and pickup trucks, and as much as I may be a city girl, I don’t think I could live without them.”

What is her style advice for young professionals? I just button up every collar I have. Other than that my advice would be to keep it simple. Black pants, black oxfords. I personally think it’s worth investing in a blazer; you can literally throw it over anything (which is key for me because I’m so slow in the morning). I have a great Chloe cropped blazer and a longer Smythe one, both black, that have literally saved my life. For any other colored blazer I cheat and go to places like Zara. I’m not opposed to pencil skirts, but I like to keep them casual by combining them with white James Perse t-shirts, whether they are black, navy, or cream. Then on the weekends I can be myself again and dress like a hobo!
