Recap: 3rd Wines of Chile and Notable.ca Chilean Wine Tasting

The 3rd Chilean Wine Tasting presented by Wines of Chile and Notable.ca was a veritable hit last week, as a bevy of dapper YPs braved the sketchy weather to sample some of the best wines Chile has on offer

The third Wines of Chile and Notable.ca Chilean Wine Tasting took over the as-yet-unopened Stories at 11 Duncan Street last Wednesday, and a bevy of Toronto’s vino-loving YPs came out despite the dropping temperatures and pouring rain to partake in the evening.

Featuring wines from the Chilean region – with wineries Errazuriz, Cono Sur, VIA Wines, Concha y Toro, and San Pedro showcasing their varietals – the casual and chic tasting had attendees moving from table to table, testing their palettes and comparing the reds and whites on display.

Vines Magazine editor Christopher Waters spoke to the dapper crowd about enjoying wine and its use as a “social lubricant” before randomly selecting four lucky winners who each received a pair of VIP passes to the upcoming Gourmet Wine and Food Expo, and one member of the Twitteratti who will have a case of his favourite wine delivered to his door. (How Notable is that?)

The rustic and minimalist space – exposed brick, gothic candlesticks, intricate rugs, weathered wood floors – was the perfect foundation, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance that highlighted the Chilean wines, known for being some of the world’s finest (and at phenomenal price-points, we might add.) The #NotableChileanWines hashtag lit up Twitter, and it’s clear from the night’s tweets that our national social media audience was green as grapes with vino envy.
