Your 2014 Toronto Halloween Party Guide

T-minus two days.

Time to start panicking/considering reusing last year’s costume.

‘Cause between busy work schedules and trying to assemble a new half-decent, half-original Halloween outfit, it can be tough to research and figure out where you’re even going to spend the night.

Well, the undead here at Notable are at your bloody service.

Here’s a list of the parties you want to know about going on this Halloween in Toronto. We promise all of them will be better than your average graveyard shift…

5th Annual Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 90’s Halloween
Where: Sound Academy
When: Friday October 31st
How Much:  $30

“Iiiiiiin a club by the harbourfront Halloween night, there’s a 90s-themed party that should be aaaiight.” Ok, that was pretty bad. But this party won’t be. 90s music all night, throwback costumes (though all costumes are welcome), and bottle service packages ranging from the Ashley Banks ($550) to the Fresh Prince ($975). Not to mention finding a cab afterwards will be terrifying.

Halloween Massacre
Where: Roy Thompson Hall
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $20-$30 in advance, $50 at the door

Generally held at Massey Hall, “the most elite Halloween party in the city” is making its debut appearance at Roy Thompson Hall with two rooms, two distinct sounds, and space for 1800 people. Doors open at 9pm and Halloween costumes are mandatory. And no, the Symphony will not be playing.

Steam Whistle’s Annual Halloween Bash
Where: Steam Whistle Roundhouse Brewery
When: Friday October 31st & November 1st
How Much: $33

These guys know how to throw a party, and on Halloween, they definitely know how to throw two parties. On Friday, music is provided by DJs Fields McQueen & Nino Brown and Saturday the tunes will come via DJs Skratch Bastid & Fields McQueen. Tickets for this event are always hard to snag, so you may need to break out your Gandalf costume and work some magic.

Toronto Halloween Club Crawl
Where: Multiple Locations (Starts @ Gravity Sound Bar)
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $30-40 depending on transportation preferences

A ticket gets you get no cover and no line to 4 clubs/bars around the city, which include Maison, Tryst, Easy, and C-Lounge, though each group will go to different spots at different times. The cheapies get you a group walk while the most expensive tickets secure you a seat on a Limo Bus for transportation between venues. Everyone starts at Gravity @ 8pm and ends up at Fiction Night Club to party till the wee hours.

Speakeasy21 Halloween Party
Where: 21 Adelaide Street West (Main Floor of Scotia Plaza)
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $100

This is one night where patrons of this slick Financial District bar will not be allowed to wear suits. Tickets can be purchased at the bar during this week and, depending on availability, at the door. Admission will get you a handful of drink tickets, a few hands of Bourbon Blackjack, a trick-or-treat candy buffet, and a dance party with flappers and disco-studs. Things get rolling at 9:30pm.

Gladstone’s Halloween Extravaganza: Decades of Dance
Where: Gladstone Hotel
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $30 in advance, $35 at the door

The Gladstone is teaming up with ElectriCITY Events to bring you two floors of Halloween partying and six decades of dancing. In the Ballroom they’ll have hits from the 50s + 60s, in the Melody Bar it’s DJ Geoffrol with 70s + 80s, and on the second floor, you’ll find all the 90s + 00s jams you can handle. Private rooms and bottle service are also available if you contact the events team directly.

Terror Vision – A/V Halloween w DJ EZ & Jus-Ed
Where: 99 Sudbury
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $29.50

This will definitely be one of the more interesting parties of the night. Running until 4am, this event features a full transformation of the 99 Sudbury complex using immersive visuals and installations across multiple rooms, described as “’Dark dreamscapes. Soul-wrenching flashbacks. Haunting dystopias.” Between the music and the installations, this should be a special brand of creepertainment. See a preview here

REDRUM Halloween Party @ 1812 Lounge
Where: Thompson Hotel
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $40-60

Four rooms, four sounds, one big party. Making use of the Lobby Bar, the Rooftop, the Wellington Room, and the Wildflower this Thompson jam should have something for every type of ghoul and goblin. It might be a little chilly on that roof in your skimpy Halloween gear but between the crowd, the view, the tunes, and the creepy cocktails, your blood will be far from curdling.

Dark Cabaret
Where: Everleigh
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $30

Dark or light, cabaret themes are always worth the price of admission and this venue knows how to throw down on Fridays. There are over $1,000 in prizes being awarded for costumes and you can contact the venue directly to book tables and bottle service. 23+

Monster Mash
Where: Liberty Grand
When: Friday October 31st
How Much: $65

Just judging by this video of their 2012 party, the 2014 installment should be another wild and crazy evening. They have a lot of space, a lot of sponsors, and a lot to drink. Prizes will be given out for best costume and reservations for bottle service can be made as well.
