You Should Like Rugby if You Want to Win the Dating Game

If you’re in the market to rev up your personal life, you may want to consider liking rugby.

According to the latest EliteSingles member survey, rugby is the sexiest sport.

The survey asked members of both sexes their thoughts on dating, love, and rugby. As it turns out, the majority of the singles surveyed would most like to date someone who identifies as a rugby fan. It could be because the Rugby World Cup kicks off this weekend – and the Canadian team is becoming increasingly popular.

Of course, we’ll be there too – and Canada just so happens to have the highest percentage of rugby-loving singles in North America.

Of the total number of singles surveyed, 58 per cent want to date a rugby union fan; 80 per cent of women and 78 per cent of men find rugby fans interesting or sexy.

On the other hand, 31 per cent of singles surveyed said they’d like to date someone who is into sports other than rugby (sorry, hockey and football fans) and just 12 per cent admitted to preferring those who hate all sport.

Perhaps part of the reason for this enthusiasm is that the Rugby World Cup is now just hours away – and, as the survey showed, the percentage of people who say they love the game rises during major international tournaments. According to Elite Singles, this bandwagon boost is pretty dramatic in Canada – support for the national team more than doubled during the RWC (rising from 21 to 46 per cent).

This means that Canada is the most-supported North American team in the tournament.

So, how does this apply to you and your dating life? If you’re smart, you may just want to brush up on your rugby knowledge (including the rules) and hit up a sports bar. According to the survey, doing so could win you major points; 41 per cent of singles would find themselves swooning over someone who could explain the rules of the game.

Who knows, maybe you’ll even “score” yourself.
