You Can Soon Settle Your Debts With Friends By Sending Money Through Facebook Messenger

Here’s something bold from a company that can’t really be trusted with your privacy: You’ll soon be able to send money to your friends through Facebook messenger.

The service will be easy to use, free, and rolling out to users in the United States over the coming months.

And while the idea will surely be met with immediate snark (as with all new things Facebook announces), let’s all be mature enough to admit it’ll be pretty awesome and convenient when it launches. See for yourself:

According to the Facebook release, payment can be made in just three simple steps:

1. Start a message with a friend
2. Tap the $ icon and enter the amount you want to send
3. Tap Pay in the top right and add your debit card to send money

While the money will transfer immediately, it’s arrival in your bank account depends on the speed of which your bank can process the payment (up to three business days, as per usual).

We’re one step closer to the death of paper currency.
