You Can Now Spend a Night in Princess Diana’s Former Childhood Home

Most girls grow up dreaming of what it might be like to live like a royal princess. Fast forward 20 years, and these women are still probably wondering…

Well, if you’re one of those little girls (or boys) who grew up wanting to be a part of the royal family, you’re in luck.

Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home and final resting place in Northamptonshire, will open its doors to a select group of visitors for three weekends in an effort to raise money for the Whole Child International, a U.S.-based non-governmental organization focused on improving the quality of life for vulnerable children worldwide.

Princess Diana’s older brother, Earl Spencer, recently shared that couples are being invited to spend the weekend at the 500-year-old estate that boasts a priceless art collection, 88 fireplaces, a 10,000-book library, and 13,000 acres of lush grounds.

For  £17,000 — roughly $32,286 CAD – you and a partner can take part in this lavish affair. Or, if you want to rally up a group of friends, 18 people can spend the weekend for a mere £170,000 ($322,867 CAD).

And while the price tag is steep, it’s definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Guests will have access to all areas of the stately house and even have the opportunity to sleep in Diana’s former bedroom.

But those with deep pockets aren’t the only ones who can stay at Althorp. A series of competitions are being held for six other lucky guests to gain entry to the estate.

Two people will earn their stay by raising the most funds for Whole Child International, two other people will get to stay by getting the most people to donate to the organization, and two more guests can stay by submitting an essay of 500 or fewer words, or a video essay less than 90 seconds long, stating why you should stay at the estate.

For those interested in entering, good luck.
