Elevator Pitch: Describe your business in a nutshell.
Shay Lowe Jewellery is a designer jewellery brand that is bold, alluring, and statement-making. The brand philosophy is “Be Extraordinary.”
Why did you start your business, what was the inspiration?
I developed my business part-time and it grew to a level where I could make the leap. I have always been inspired creatively with jewellery and grew to fully embrace my entrepreneurial instincts. Seeing others enjoy and succeed as entrepreneurs was also incredibly inspiring – and still is.
What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
The best part of what I do is the limitless possibilities and the exhilaration of making things happen. Every day is new and exciting, and embracing the challenges before you is fulfilling. The most challenging part is that there are not enough hours in the day, and switching gears constantly. It can be very taxing, so you have to stay healthy and energized.
Where do you see your business going in 5 years?
To be recognized as a brand internationally. Having the brand carried in all the top luxury department stores worldwide, and designing a collaborative collection with a major fashion house and/or brand. Expanding the business into diffusion lines, bridal, men’s, and the shopping channel. The list goes on. Home accessories are also on the radar.
What does success look like to you?
Winston Churchill said it best: “Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”
What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
Being selected amongst designers worldwide, and to design an exhibit piece for Swarovski Elements Austria.
Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Be a warrior, not a worrier. Innovate. Create value.
Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
I support many charities throughout the city both personally and professionally, primarily in the arts and organizations supporting women. Artbound is important to me internationally, because it is about harnessing the power of the arts and using that to create sustainability. Our big fundraiser of the year is The pARTy, on September 27th. My business also supports Sheena’s Place and the ‘Heart to Heart’ campaign we created together, raising funds for their support programs assisting people affected by eating disorders.
What is Notable to you?
Strength, Resilience, Truth.
BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
How do you keep active, energetic, and vibrant?
Being happy. Loving life. Enjoying friends and family. Keeping an active mind and healthy body. You have to stay fresh, passionate, positive, keep things exciting, and keep moving forward.
