Elevator Pitch: Describe your business in a nutshell.
NKPR is an innovative full-service public relations and digital media agency with offices in Toronto and New York, servicing over 30 national and international clients in the lifestyle, fashion, beauty, entertainment, health, non-profit and tech sectors. Our outside-the-box approach leads to the development of unique strategic initiatives, creative promotions, targeted product placement opportunities and engaging social media strategies.

Why did you start your business, what was the inspiration?
I began NKPR with the mandate of being able to pick and choose the brands and people that I work with, as well as develop and promote programs and products that I am passionate about. I also wanted to have the opportunity to build an open, nurturing and creative working environment for my team.

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
The best part of what I do is working closely with our partners, clients and team on a day-to-day basis – and this also happens to sometimes be the most challenging. It is all about navigating your way through different personalities and needs.

Where do you see your business going in 5 years?
I would like to see NKPR continue to be authentic with the partnership/brands that we work with. Creating interesting projects that we are proud of drives the intention of the business.

What does success look like to you?
Being brave in all of my decisions; never being satisfied with the status quo; thinking ahead at what success looks like to my clients and staff – understanding the end result, and working my way backwards.

What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
I am living it. I don’t see my career filled with specific milestones, but rather I am grateful everyday for everything I have.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Think before you do, and pay attention to the little details.

Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
It is so important that I donate my time and support the community that has given me so much. NKPR supports a number of different charities including Artists for Peace and Justice, of which I am the Canadian Chair; we helped to create and develop the launch of At My Best and I sit on the advisory board for Camp Oochigeas. Additionally, we ensure authentic charitable connections between our clients and causes – this includes the Goody partnership with Girls on the Run and The House of Marley partnership with Musicounts.

What is Notable to you?
It is all about the approach – having the courage to do things differently for reasons that matter.

Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
Berry in Canada, iPhone in the US, iPad in both!

How do you keep active, energetic, and vibrant?
Coming into work and being inspired by the great people I interact with keeps me motivated each day. Spinning, running, walking my dogs (and a bit of Kiehl’s Abysinne Eye Cream,) also keeps me feeling my best!
