Wurst Restaurant and Beer Hall

Wurst Restaurant and Beer Hall recently opened to the sighs of relief from thirsty Calgary young professional foodies. This Bavarian-inspired resto/bar is a split-level and sophisticated take on traditional beer halls, serving up some of the finest beers and comfort foods on 4th Street SW.

Wurst’s restaurant occupies the upstairs space, and is a light contrast to the dark downstairs beer hall. Here you’ll find modern twists on traditional Bavarian favourites and decidedly large sharing platters. The restaurant is where you’ll find some carefully selected wines that pair appropriately to the locally-sourced ingredients found on Wurst’s menu.

The Beer Hall is likely to become one of Calgary’s newest hangouts for beer aficionados. Located in the heart of Mission, this German drinking hole is dark yet pleasant, and on a good night can be loud and boisterous – it’s Bavaria at its best. You’ll see the open kitchen at one end of the room (let the smell of home-made sausages dance on the tip of your nose), and at the other you’ll find a stein locker wall for those serious beer drinkers.

Wurst is a perfect concept space that should become a favourite amongst Calgary foodies and beer drinkers alike. The servers are knowledgeable and gracious, and help you navigate the menu and tireless selection of brews. Check out Wurst for a late-night bite or mid-afternoon cap and let the best of Bavaria make your day. Wurst Restaurant and Beer Hall, 2437 4th Street SW, Calgary, 403-245-2345.
