Gentleman, this is one local look you’re going to want to get on (your body).
The Toronto-based luxury menswear line HD Homme showed at Toronto Fashion Week on Friday evening, and Lead Designer and Creative Director Hussein Dhalla (hence the HD) has already had much success both in and outside of the city – dressing men at both the 2014 Grammys and Academy Awards.
HD Homme is a collection that re-conceptualizes the familiar, and HD has created a line to fit his own taste and lifestyle. His appreciation for superior fabrics, impeccable craftsmanship, and vision for incomparable designs is ideal for the kind of man who lives a fast paced, fearless, and fascinating life.
Luxurious, silk fabrics made a significant presence in this SS collection. Even everyday pieces such as swimming trunks, button ups, and informal jackets featured alluring patterns and sumptuous, silver accents and zippers.
The collection drew upon a powerful use of colours and silken tailoring. A polka dot, knee length take on the smoking jacket manipulated a historical silhouette with a modern cut and finish. Prints varied from roses and zebra paisley to complete stripe patterns – presenting an exhilarating attitude contrary to the typically stale spring offerings men are often accustomed to.
HD cooled off the collection in ankle skimming trousers, mesh accents, tighter than usual shorts, and shirtless jacket ensembles while electric blue provided a calming response to the contrasting fiery red hues throughout the collection. Standout pieces included a periodically sheer, floral baseball jacket, a trench coat in a fervent red, and a fatigue, silk shirt jacket.
The fashion-forward gentleman, one who appreciates luxury, striking and sophisticated looks, will undoubtedly favour this spring collection.
