Just when you thought you couldn’t hate Donald Trump anymore, a maddening new ad will make you do just that.
In addition to being a decided racist, an ad released yesterday by a Republican-led anti-Trump Super PAC drives home how sexist and dismissive of women Trump is (in case you weren’t already aware).
Just what you want in a president, right?
A far cry from the sentiment of Prime Minister Trudeau, who identifies as a “proud feminist” and encourages others to do the same, the video ad features women reading Trump’s own appalling words about females out loud. This includes everything from the typical “bimbo,” and “fat pig” remarks (which, frankly, aren’t shocking anymore), to more descriptive phrases like “she had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her… whatever,” and “it really doesn’t matter what they write, as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.”
Oh, and here’s the classiest of them all: “Women: you have to treat ’em like shit.” Nice, right?
This clearly isn’t going to sit well for female voters come general election time, and is prime ammunition for Hilary Clinton supporters and soon-to-be converts. The polls are already telling. Last week, ABC News released a poll that puts Clinton ahead 21 points among women over Trump in a head-to-head matchup.
At a time when we’ve made such strides in closing the lingering gender gap, electing Trump into office would represent a crushing setback, to say the very least.
Seriously, how can somebody who has a history of treating women this way be taken seriously as a presidential candidate (or as a husband and father to a daughter, for that matter)?
