Who’s the Bozo Who Brought This Lion Cub to a Toronto Club?

We can tolerate some gimmicks at the club.

If you want to look all cool and cultured by posting up with a hookah in the corner and taking a selfie with a cloud of smoke, then you do you, pal.

But rolling through with a lion cub – what the hell, bud?

You’ve probably heard that King West’s trendy new rooftop oasis, Lavelle, is the spot of the summer. It’s filled with stunning views of the city, flowing cocktails, pools… and wild animals, as it turns out.

Toronto Animal Services is currently investigating after Instagram photos emerged of a lion cub at the club.

Several Instagram posts, Lavelle geotagged, show patrons holding and petting a small lion cub.

According to the Canadian Press, Camille Labchuk, executive director of the Animal Justice advocacy group, says she was made aware of the photos Friday morning by a supporter whose friend had seen them online.

Even more alarming is that wild animals apparently often feature on Toronto party guestlists, according to Labchuk.

“It’s seriously detrimental to the welfare of these animals to be owned by private people and taken around to events like this,” she says.

Jam-packed, rowdy Toronto events are exhausting enough for a humans – wild animals don’t need an invite.
