Where to Spend New Year’s Eve 2015 in Vancouver

After a year of working our butts off, for young professionals it’s more than just another night out. New Year’s commemorates the hard work of the year past, living in the moment, and being ready for what’s to come.

We’ve heard it all before that the occasion is overhyped and it takes too much effort – but if you’re spending the holiday in the city, we demand you start 2015 off a memorable night.

Instead of pondering which party to hit up when the “what are you doing for New Year’s?” question comes up repeatedly over the next couple weeks, we are giving you the answer.

Here are the 11 parties you should consider:

Waldorf NYE 15
If you’re the ‘New Year’s is overrated’ type, this is the place you’ll want to spend your night.

Space + Time has partnered with Mad Decent and G.O.O.D Music to transform The Waldorf Hotel into a full-out performance venue with interactive exhibits and a solid line up — Travi$ Scott, Expendable Youth, Big Sean, Rich Homie Quan and Migos to name a few. A night with really good artists taking the stage for a small crowd and a countdown celebration – you can’t go wrong.

Shangri-La NYE 2015
This luxurious gala is back – and it’s a milestone celebration. For its 5th anniversary, LCU Nightlife, Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver and Ciroc are partnering together and will be back with a Diddy-esque party you won’t want to miss.

With canapés from Market by Jean-Georges and an age limit – 25+ for men and 21+ for women – expect a more sophisticated experience with a refined set of YPs.

Solid NYE 2015
For an all-out New Year’s party, Solid Events has the PNE taken over by a solid roster: Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Andrew Rayel, and Goshfather & Jinco. If you’re looking for that Vegas heartbeat in a big crowd, you’ll get it.

The vibe? Pretty self-explanatory: more bass, less black tie.

Sahara – NYE 2015 Festival
The Settlement Building, home to Vancouver Urban Winery, is putting on Sahara and promising a night of dancing and good times.

Though it hasn’t been announced, there will be stages and performers.

The theme is a more laidback festival style reminiscent of Coachella’s Sahara tent, which is indicative of the invite: “Whatever. Dress up, dress down, just party!”

New Year’s at Hotel Vancouver
The iconic Hotel Vancouver is opening its doors for a massive multi-room event again.

From six pop-up nightclubs to an erotic Weimar Striptastic Spectacular to the world famous Motown party and a performance from Rich Hope, little is left to be desired.

SJS New Years Eve
The SJS crew has planned ahead and taken care of all the details – dinner, venue, baby making music…

Happening this time around in one of the biggest club venues on Granville Street, the SJS crew is sure to have a few surprises in store. You don’t have to worry about a thing.

Really. All you have to do is show up.

The Last Hurrah New Years Eve
Glowbal is going out with a bang. New Year’s will be your last opportunity to say goodbye to the cornerstone of Glowbal Restaurant Group’s Yaletown location.

For a proper adieu, Glowbal is bringing back the restaurant’s favorite dishes throughout the past 12 years canapé-style throughout the night.

It’s going to be a double whammy – the night will also mark the official countdown to their anticipated relocation to TELUS Gardens we told you about in November.

Palais Royale
Moet & Chandon will lead the night at the luxurious Rosewood Hotel Georgia.

To set the mood, there will be a courtesan parade, interactive art installations, living statues, and special social media areas to help welcome in the New Year.  Sounds about right as this 700-person party is supposed to be “Instagram heaven.”

While those were the picks we deemed the best, here’s a couple more honourable mentions to consider if you’re going the gala route, looking for a dinner party, or just something fun at bar.

2015 Waterfront Gala Ball
The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel has teamed up with Grey Goose to greet the New Year in style. For a proper countdown there will be a balloon drop accompanied with Champagne and live music from DJs Skyline, Ryan Live and Kidd to make sure you’re dancing all night long. Dress code: top notch.

Absolut Warhol NYE 2015
The exclusive Absolut Vodka Warhol pop art themed party will be taking place at The Blackbird Public House. With over 8700 square feet decorated in Warhol-inspired décor, it’ll be like you’re ringing in the New Year in The Factory.

L’Abattoir New Years
L’Abattoir is serving NYE in two ways. Guests and partygoers can dine in the main area with its full a la carte menu and house originals such as the Gastown Swizzle, or for those looking for a more intimate experience, guests can book tables in the premiere private dining room and satiate their palates with the special New Year’s Eve five-course menu designed by Chef Lee Cooper.
