Where to Find Holiday Treats in Calgary

For many young professionals, most of December is full of corporate Christmas events, and that’s on top of your regular work obligations. This can leave little time for making goodies. But no one wants to show up to family and friends’ holiday dinners that tend to happen between Christmas and New Year’s empty handed. Why not leave it up to the professionals? The following is a list of places in Calgary where you can pick up those traditional and not-so-traditional treats.

Manuel Latruwe
This Belgian Patisserie and Bread Shop offers recipes both timeless and contemporary courtesy of Belgian baker, owner and namesake Manuel Latruwe. All of their cakes are made with only the finest natural ingredients, such as Madagascar vanilla bean and Belgian chocolate.

Rustic Sourdough Bakery
With their own Swiss Master Baker and Master Pastry Chef, Rustic Sourdough Bakery has a great selection of cookies, breads and tortes. How can you go wrong with Chocolate Mousse Torte?

Gunther’s Fine Bakery
They keep up the tradition of producing breads, buns and pastries from scratch and are expanding their variety with new delighting products. They have a great assortment of French pastries and strudel.

Sunterra Market
Offering all sorts of housemade treats, this holiday season they are also offering gift baskets that are full of hand-selected holiday delicacies. They can fully customize for those interested. But if you are in a hurry, they have a great selection of ready-to-go, holiday-themed baskets.

Glamorgan Bakery
This family-run business is known for their cheese buns (if you haven’t tried them you are missing out), but they also have a great selection of cookies, including shortbread cookies, sugar cookies, and traditional gingerbread cookies.
