Where to Eat on Christmas Day in Vancouver

Looking for some alternative eats on Christmas Day, or simply don’t feel like prepping the traditional turkey at home? There are still a handful of options open around Vancouver to satiate your appetite, and we’ve rounded up a few for consideration…

Head to Cache Bistro in Yaletown (1269 Hamilton Street) for their French-inspired Turducken feast. At $68 per person, enjoy a five-course meal that will have you stuffed – just like the bird. On the menu for Christmas Day:Chestnut soup with grappa cream, oysters and champagne mignonette, foie gras torchon, Turducken or braised short ribs and a choice of dessert. Call 604.558.1269 to reserve in advance.

Try something different and make your way to Gyu-kaku (888 Nelson Street) for their interactive Japanese-style Christmas feast.  Aside from offering a great happy hour menu, we’re fans of this Japanese BBQ hot spot that’s a total gem. For Christmas Day, they’ll be offering everything from their regular menu with small plates starting at $4. If you opt to come with a larger group, they’ve got a pre-picked multi-course menu priced at $25 per person. Call 604.558.3885 to reserve.

Enjoy festive eats at one of Vancouver’s classiest hotel hideaways, Bacchus Lounge at the Wedgewood Hotel. Aside from offering an amazing Christmas brunch and lunch menu, they’ve also got a fully loaded dinner offering too. If you’re looking for a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings, Bacchus is definitely the place to go. Aside from offering a stunning, relaxed atmosphere, service is impeccable – and you’ll feel transported to Europe. Check out the holiday menu here and reserve by calling them directly at 604. 689.7777.

Enjoy Christmas lunch or dinner at Maurya Indian Cuisine with their special seasonal prix-fixe menu. Located at 1643 West Broadway, they’re offering a bargain of a deal on Christmas day with a $20 lunch buffet and $40 per person three-course meal that includes two glasses of wine. Known for their traditional methods of cooking, Maurya’s dishes are packed with flavour, curries that use only the freshest of ingredients and Naan with a distinctly smoky flavour (thanks to an authentic charcoal-fired oven).  Reservations can be made by calling 604.742.0622.

Finally, another Christmas Day alternative will land you down at Granville Island’s Dockside Restaurant, where they’re serving up a feast all day. Whether it’s Christmas Day brunch you’re after, or a full festive dinner feast, they’ve got the details covered. Starting at under $60 for a huge buffet brunch, the culinary options are endless (we tried to keep track but lost count). If the idea of all-day breakfast isn’t on the agenda, reserve for dinner instead (under $70 per person) and enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Call 604.685.7070 to reserve.
