Where to Dine in YVR on Christmas Day

Though most businesses will undoubtedly be closed on December 25th, there are still some spots offering up some respite to YPs looking for a little festive change of scenery. We’ve found a few that fit the bill and offer an escape from both the kitchen and the in-laws.

The Dockside Restaurant on Granville Island is hosting a classic Christmas Day Brunch for those of you looking for a waterfront spot to feast. They will feature a huge buffet selection, complete with a chef attended carvery station (we can smell the roasted goodness from here). Load up on waffles, a selection of salads, freshly baked cinnamon buns and shortbread before hitting up the dessert station for a grand finale. Cost is from $55.95 per adult and, if you’re still hungry, they’re also serving a Christmas dinner too.

Also offering brunch and dinner on Christmas Day is The Sutton Place Hotel. Escape the kitchen chaos at home and opt to relax in their cozy yet stylish Fleuri restaurant steps away from Robson Street and Burrard. They’ve got the place all decked out for the holidays and a special seasonal menu loaded with all the favourites, so you’ll feel right at home. After you’ve stuffed yourself silly, head over to the hotel’s classic go-to spot to see and be seen, the Gerard Lounge, for a few casual drinks and conversation. Preview their menu here.

Another spot serving up great Christmas Day dishes is the ORU restaurant located at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. Offering both a brunch and dinner service on December 25th, they are offering an extravagant spread of options. Expect local BC seafood (salmon, crab, prawns, mussels, oysters) as well as sushi. Accompanying this is local artisanal charcuterie and cheese as well as traditional holiday fixings; turkey, roasted ham and plenty more to fill your belly. Prices start at $69 for brunch and $95 for dinner.

One more spot that’s open on Christmas Day (and always a sure bet if you’re looking to impress any visitors) is the Four Seasons’ own Yew Restaurant + Bar. After you’ve spent the better part of your day holed up with family at home and unwrapped the last of your gifts, we’re guessing the last thing you’ll likely want to do is slog it out in the kitchen. Head over to hotel’s stunning lobby bar and lounge for a pre-dinner cocktail and then tuck in to be totally spoiled with their traditional turkey dinner.
