‘Where Did You Sleep Last Night?’ Oh, Just at Kurt Cobain’s Airbnb

Almost $400 a night for a one bedroom, one bathroom home in Los Angeles is pretty steep.

Oh, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love lived there during the rise of Nirvana’s fame? Nevermind, totally worth it.

That’s right, Cobain and Love’s former Fairfax apartment is now listed on Airbnb. A hotbed for heroin and painting in the early 90s, it’s been significantly renovated since the grunge years. Gone are the pills and iconic VHS tapes, replaced by modern essentials of the millennial traveller: towels, shampoo, and WiFi.

Considering how it looked before, maybe there are some positive aspects to gentrification.

You can also rest assured the faulty plumbing that eventually forced Cobain and Love, who was pregnant with Frances Bean at the time, to move out has been dealt with.

The leaky bathtub, which is where Cobain allegedly wrote ‘Heart-Shaped Box’, unfortunately did not survive the overhaul.

Surprisingly, there hasn’t been much demand for the listing. It’s only been rented out about 4-5 times a year, mostly to Nirvana fans who can justify the mark up. We expect that to change soon, though; TIME yesertday quoted a $150/night price for the lsiting, which has now risen to $365.

All Apologies for spreading the hype – this is probably not what Kurt wanted.
