What’s Open and Closed on Christmas Day 2016 in Toronto

For many of us, Christmas Day is a time for presents, loved ones, and stuffing our faces with plenty of carb-filled goodies.

However, if you don’t celebrate the holiday, or just need a break from your extended family, here are the places that are open on Christmas Day 2016, as well as the ones to avoid.

What’s open on Christmas Day 2016:

TTC
The TTC service begins at 9 am. Just a guess, but you’ll likely experience “slower than normal service” (so just like every other day).

GO Transit
For those suburban family dinner-goers, GO Transit will run on its Sunday schedule.

Movie Theatres
All local movie theatres remain open on Christmas Day – and there are some pretty great films out this year.

TIFF Bell Lightbox
Steven Spielberg’s E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey are all playing this year.

Public Skating Rinks
Most outdoor public skating rinks will remain open.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
If the gifts aren’t enough to keep the kids entertained, or if you don’t celebrate Christmas, Ripley’s Aquarium is open 9 am-6 pm.
