What to Expect at Cabana Pool Bar

It isn’t for everyone.

But it does make for very Instagram-worthy pictures, ample entertainment value, and a day in the sun. If you didn’t check it out last year, you may want to hit Cabana Pool Bar at least once this summer.

Here’s what to expect…

A Vegas vibe. You don’t need to travel all the way to Vegas to party it up the way you do in Sin City. This means flowing booze (no matter if it’s during the day), teeny weenie bikinis and blasting beats (yesterday’s opening party featured the sounds of legendary Pete Tong). Ample cabanas (17 to be exact) and booze-pumping bars add to the Vegas feel. Oh, and so do the juice monkeys and suspected strippers.

To feel old. We’ll admit we felt a little on the older end of the age spectrum looking around the sea of pool partiers at Cabana. Maybe we’re generalizing, but there seemed to be no shortage of guys and girls who were clearly fresh on summer break from university. On the plus side? Many reassured us that the freshman 15 was still a thing (yeah, we said it, and yes, it made us feel better).

Babes and boats. You can expect a dock of yachts filled with a dozen or so hot, young, bikini-clad females and a few token males who wrangled them up. If you can score a spot on the yacht, that’s the way to go, with the boat and the pool offering the best of both worlds.

Good food. You don’t have to worry about getting too drunk and falling in the pool thanks to the poolside food options offered by Oliver and Bonacini. Come hungry, because Chef Jamie Meireles has also created a great Sunday brunch. This is far from the grub you’ll find at Wild Water Kingdom.

A good option to entertain visiting friends. If you have friends visiting, Cabana offers a good choice in terms of entertaining this summer. It offers one of the most stunning views of the city, is guaranteed to be a party, and if he or she is looking for a vacation hook-up, they are sure to find it there. If you decide to play hooky yourself when your friends are visiting, Cabana is now open six days a week (Tuesday-Sunday).

No nonsense security. Take it from us: don’t forget your ID on a Sunday. Your day will be quickly ruined if you make it all the way down to Polson Pier only to have to cab home to get your ID. And don’t try to sneak anything in (not that you would). Ample security guards and even police patrol the area. And there’s no charming them.

To spend money. From the general admission wristbands ($20 a piece yesterday) to the VIP wristbands (another $20 a piece), to the bottles of booze and cab rides, a day at Cabana is no Sunday in the park money-wise. That’s why it makes all the more sense to stay in on Saturday night and to save your cash, body and energy for what will sure be an epic Sunday Funday.

Love it or hate it, check out Cabana Pool Bar yourself this summer.
