What to Do on Christmas Eve in Calgary

It’s always nice to get out of the house for a bite or a little entertainment during the holidays. For young professionals not satisfied with sticking around the house on Christmas Eve, here’s a rundown of Notable spots that’ll be open…

A Christmas Carol
Theatre Calgary’s Christmas Carol wraps on the 24th of December, a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Stephen Hair stars as the crotchety old Ebenezer Scrooge. You can view the website for Theatre Calgary for details on showtimes and prices.

Spruce Meadows
If you are up for a bit of a drive, you can enjoy the Christmas Lights at Spruce Meadows. Open from 5 to 10pm, the Spruce Meadows grounds will be covered with roughly 250,000 Christmas lights that run a distance of two kilometers. Tour around Tournament Lane, The Courtyard, Traffic Circle, The Nations Flag Park, Congress Hall, Riders Chapel and the Pond. 

The Hyatt Regency
The Hyatt Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Calgary and Thomsons Restaurant will be open for dinner on Christmas Eve. The kitchen here uses free-range ingredients to create culinary delights that change each week. Thomsons was rated as one of the Top 10 restaurants to dine in Calgary. Libertine Lounge
Also located downtown is the Libertine Lounge. The Libertine offers a casual atmosphere in a modern setting with great comfort food and a large selection of craft beer on tap. You can call 403-265-3665 to book a table.

Skating at Olympic Plaza
Everyone loves skating at Christmas. Grab you skates and head to the Olympic Plaza, the rink will be open to the public until 11pm on Christmas Eve.
