What to Do on Christmas Day in Calgary

If your family and friends are looking to switch up usual Christmas traditions, here a few notable happenings to keep on your radar once all the presents have been opened

If your family and friends are looking to switch up usual Christmas traditions, here a few notable happenings to keep on your radar once all the presents have been opened…

Mount Norquay
In a little over an hour you can be in the Rockies and on your way to a great ski day. Most of the Mountain resorts will be open on Christmas and Mount Norquay is offering a free day of skiing to anyone who is dressed up like Santa, Mrs. Clause, a reindeer or an elf. If you feel a little weird about dressing up, just remember that most people won’t recognize you with your goggles. Norquay also offers tubing if you need a break from skiing.

The Movies
This year there are several really great movies that will be opening on Christmas Day. To name a few: “American Hustle” with a star-studded cast, a sure-to-be-classic Scorsese film called “The Wolf of Wall Street” with DiCaprio, and the much-anticipated “Anchorman 2” with Will Farrell. Check the Calgary Movies website for showtimes.

China Town
If you are looking to dine out on Christmas Day, Chinatown is a safe bet. Regency Palace, Golden Inn and U & Me are all options for dinner. Shake it up this Christmas dinner with Won Ton Soup and Salt and Pepper Squid. Delicious!

The Sheraton Hotel in Eau Claire
The downtown Sheraton has a few options for December 25th. Finn McCool’s Irish pub will be open and you can also dine at Barclays Restaurant. Standard weekend hours of operation apply to both pub and restaurant. Barclays has a breakfast buffet as well as a dinner buffet. For more information you can call 403-266-7200.
