Vancouver’s Most Notable Spa and Beauty Services

Though we can’t complain about being plagued by a deep freeze out here on the coast, the weather still takes its toll (let’s see those Torontonians deal with a week of downpour and endless grey skies, shall we?). That said, the best way to deal with the winter doldrums is to head to the spa

Shangri-La hotel’s CHI Spa is a definite must on any spa seeker’s list. Not only are you swathed in swank upon entering, but the services are simply over-the-top amazing. Treatment rooms are literally spas unto themselves with their own fireplaces, personal lounge areas and plenty of space to simply relax – before your service even starts.

Recommended service: try their Wild Seaweed Facial or West Coast Wrap. If you have some time, we also recommend indulging in a Chi Journey treatment that will see you feeling utterly cleansed and Zen after multiple treatments of your choice.

For those who are a bit more on-the-go, scoot down the street and tuck away at THE Salon Beauty Bar for a few hours of respite.  Owned by a Notable young entrepreneur (Angela Tang), it’s a great spot to jet to for a few top-notch services without the ‘big salon’ snootiness that can sometimes ensue. Personalized service guarantees you’ll feel like you’re at a second home and they pretty much have it all: hair treatments, make up, facial/skincare, body treatments, mani-pedis and more. An added bonus: THE Salon Beauty Bar is open on Sunday as well so busy young professionals can rest easy and actually unplug during service.

Recommended service: reserve one of the monthly special treatments if you’re heading south anytime soon (NuAge Laser hair removal, ladies). If your tresses are looking a little worse for wear, try out one of their Kerastase masques or specialty treatments.

Finally, find your complete escape by booking into the Miraj Hamman Spa on South Granville. This stunning spot will definitely have you feeling transported to another, slightly more exotic place.  As you enter, take in the relaxed atmosphere and subdued energy – the sound of soothing water, luxurious scents and a calmness are guaranteed to overtake you.  Grab a steam either before or after your treatment (likely a Gommage).  Chill out in the lounge and partake in the tea service offered – trust us, you won’t want to leave.

Recommended service: Tack on the extra and upgrade your 15-minute massage to a full hour (you’ll thank us later). Also, we recommend upping the ante on the whole Hammam and Gommage package by trying out the Earth or Papaya/Clay Toning masque – divine.

If that’s not #LYNL (Live Your Notable Life), we don’t know what is.
