Vancouver’s Most Notable Farmers Markets

If you haven’t already heard, the Yaletown Farmers Market is back and sets up shop along Mainland Street by the Yaletown Canada-Line stop each Thursday. Pop out of the office in the afternoon or grab some goods en route home; this popular urban market is open starting at 2pm until 6pm. This year they’re featuring more vendors (35+) and will launch a special ‘Farmers Market Kitchen’ program starting June 5th and Chefs’ Perks package. Learn more here.

Starting this weekend, the Trout Lake Farmers Market is also back for the season and is one of the larger markets to head to when it comes time to stock up on fresh picks for the week. Located by John Hendry Park at Trout Lake, it’s a beautiful setting that invites you to want to stick around for a post-shop picnic. The market runs every Saturday from May 10th to October 18th starting at 9am until 2pm.

Also kicking things off on the city’s west side is the Kitsilano Farmers Market (in the parking lot of the Kitsilano Community Centre at 10th Ave and Larch Street). Hop on your bike and make your way over to this picturesque marketplace to pick up fresh goods from well over 50 vendors, scoring everything from locally caught seafood to meats, organic veggies and fruit, baked goods and more.

Later this month, you’ll be able to head to the West End Farmers Market for a bit of a restock on your veggies when it re-launches (May 31st to October 18th. This popular and well-attended market’s central downtown location means it’s best to get there early (opens at 9am until 2pm). And don’t forget your food scraps when visiting the above-mentioned markets, as they’re all part of the Food Scraps program and are official drop spots for recycling waste.

Starting next month and throughout the summer, watch for return of the Main Street Station Farmers Market (near Main Street Skytrain Station) each Wednesday from 3pm to 7pm, as well as the return of the Kerrisdale Village Farmers Market (Saturdays beginning June 14th). New this year, Mt Pleasant is also launching a new farmers market (Sunday, June 15th) by the Mount Peasant Elementary School at Guelph Park.
