Vancouver’s Most Notable Donut Boutiques

We’ve got something to sweeten your mood this week with the spotlight being firmly focused on all things donuts (or doughnuts, if you prefer). We’ve noted a rise in this doughy-trend and have taste-tested our way through a baker’s dozen to come up with our own noteworthy list.

Head to long-standing favourite Lee’s Donuts on Granville Island to satisfy your sweet tooth. Located in the heart of Granville Island’s Public Market, it’s perfect when searching for a quick coffee to go and sweet treat. Grab a trio and have fun choosing from their endless list before gearing up for some serious shopping. We recommend you select the Devil’s Food, Coconut Cream and fluffy, sugar-dusted offerings (3 for only $5) before you wade your way through the crowds in a sweet state of mind.

Next, be sure to check out the latest pop-up-style shop to set foot in YVR’s Gastown neighbourhood, Cartem’s Donuterie at Carrall and Hastings. Nab a selection of freshly-baked goods from 10am weekdays and Saturdays from 11am…or until they run out. Baked using local ingredients, these donut gems are fried in organic coconut oil with gluten-free and vegan options available. Bite into unusual, tasty offerings such as Earl Grey, Carrot Cake and Bee Sting (honey, a touch of pepper and Parmesan cheese round this one out).

Well worth the scenic drive to North Vancouver’s Deep Cove, visit Honey’s Doughnuts for a sweet treat. A bit of a Deep Cove institution of-sorts, they are baked in deliciously small batches throughout the day and don’t last long.

Honey’s does more than just donuts be sure to check out their daily selection of sandwiches and brunch offerings, too.

Last but not least on our list is Outpost, which has built a reputation as a must-stop spot for donut-seeking junkies since opening its location a block from the wharf in Richmond between two ice cream spots. We love its funky, rustic cabin-like decor and adore their old-fashioned offerings. With four core flavours such as sugar, powdered sugar, cinnamon vanilla (with sprinkles) and chocolate (with sprinkles), it’s the perfect place to stumble upon. Prices are as good as their product (half a dozen for under $4) and special flavours are doled out daily.
