Vancouver’s Firefighters Have You Covered Tomorrow Morning – Literally

Some days we pray for rain. Tomorrow is one of those days.

That’s because Vancouver Firefighters’ Charitable Society is heading out tomorrow morning to take over several intersections throughout the downtown business district in order to sell umbrellas for a couple of good causes.

Starting bright and early at 7:30am (and lasting until 10am), you can purchase an umbrella for $10 to benefit both the VCFS’s Snack Program and Community First Foundation’s Backpack Buddies program. Partnering with the Vancouver School board, both programs support ensuring no child ever goes hungry at school.

So, if the areas around Burrard and Pender, Granville and Georgia, and all the Skytrain station corners are not on your regular route, we suggest taking a new direction, stopping your cab for a second, or heading down with your office mates to grab some umbrellas.

The firefighters will also have a main tent set up at Granville and Georgia as they celebrate their first Umbrella Day with everyone who comes by.

And while having an extra umbrella during the winter months in this city is never something you want to be without, the feel-good vibes you’ll get from helping kids in need is something you simply can’t replace.
