Vancouver’s Best Summer Patios

We might be doing a bit of wishful thinking here given the rather damp start to summer here on the west coast. That said, we’re going to channel some positive sunshine vibes for this post and give you our scoop on Vancouver’s best summer patios.

Reflections Patio at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia (801 West Georgia)
This summer, be sure to duck out of work and head straight over to try and score yourself a seat, cabana or bar spot at this sought after space. Located on the fourth floor of the newly minted Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the rooftop offers patrons a relaxed, chic spot to unwind. Definitely a patio where notable Vancouverites go to see and be seen, we love the tranquility offered by a large reflective pool, waterfalls and gardens – very L.A. (pictured bottom right).

Bridges (1696 Duranleau Street)
Located amidst the bustle of Granville Island, this landmark patio (though not rooftop) offers the perfect waterfront perch for a pint and one of the best views in the city. We love their fancy pub-style menu, seafood selections and accessibility (get there by car, bus or via Aquabus).

Joe Fortes Seafood and Chophouse (777 Thurlow)
Since opening its doors more than 27 years ago, this flagship Vancouver hot-spot for great food, wine and cocktails (not to mention fabulous people-watching) has offered the best views in the city of the bustling Robson corridor. With an outdoor fireplace, eco-green rooftop garden, wraparound outdoor bar area and spaciously arranged seating, this is one patio worth noting. (Pictured top and bottom left).

The Keg Yaletown (1011 Mainland)
One of the Canada-wide chain’s newest locations to open is located in the heart of Yaletown and caters to an eclectic mix of chic clientele. Matching this, we love the overall chic look of the rooftop patio you arrive at by elevator. Its sleek design, open concept and expansive deck space make this a winning pick when looking for a laidback spot to unwind post-work or to get the night started.  With a wraparound bar, plenty of flat screens, and intimate seating areas for casual cocktails or a full meal, be sure to stop by.

Chill Winston (3 Alexander Street)
Another top spot for knocking a few back with friends under the sun can be found at this long-time favourite located in Gastown. Just as the name suggests, you’ll easily find yourself chilling out on their laidback, cobblestone patio as you do some serious people watching. A great cocktail list, solid wine selection, not to mention satisfying eats, guarantees a notably good time – sans any pretension. (pictured top right).
