Vancouver’s Best Hidden Gem Patios

Now that the sun has decided to make an official appearance in YVR, things are heating up around town – especially on the city patio scene. While we love hitting up those go-to spots for post-work fun in the sun, there are plenty of other patio options worth noting and we’ve rounded up our own top 5 list for you to check out this summer.

The Galley Patio at the Jericho Sailing Centre offers a stunning, oceanfront view of the North Shore and Burrard Inlet activities during the summer. Located at Jericho Beach and just next to Spanish Banks, it’s tucked out of the way – just enough to guarantee you don’t have to fight the crowd to score a table.  1300 Discovery Street.

Subeez has long been a noteworthy favourite. Located in the heart of Yaletown, this place has a loyal following of locals who enjoy kicking back on the patio and tucking into some great pub-style eats with a twist. DJs up the cool factor several times each week and, providing the perfect meeting place prior to heading out on the town. Find it at 891 Homer Street.

Las Margaritas, located in the heart of Kitsilano, is hands down one of our top picks for best patio gems.   Whether you’ve got a hankering for zesty Mexican food, an ice cold Margarita or more, you’ll find your fix here. It’s also got one of the largest tequila collections in town and great people watching – minus the pretention.  1999 West 4th Avenue.

The Gallery Cafe at the Vancouver Art Gallery is another patio gem we suggest you aim to frequent this summer. Its convenient, downtown location provides an easy escape for young professionals during the work day, with a great selection of grab-and-go salads, sandwiches, specialty drinks, wine and beer – it’s easy to find yourself enjoying a rather long lunch on occasion. 750 Hornby Street.

The Seawall Bar and Grill at The Westin Hotel; you might not think it at first glance, but this Coal Harbour hotel patio is the perfect low-key spot for soaking up some serious sun. The fact that one of two patios overlooks the pool and adjacent harbour activities definitely helps get you into a ‘tourist’ frame of mind as well. Order up a spicy Caesar, sit back, and relax with your favourite book. Relish the fact that you can pretty much go completely unnoticed in the heart of all the city action. 1601 Bayshore Drive.
