Get ready for a weekend packed with notable happenings citywide. Check out the North Shore outdoor market, kick back and grab a beer on a patio, take in an art show fuelled by nostalgia and grab your bike for a two-wheeled party. Oh, and don't forget about that tournament in Brazil

Friday

Head over to North Vancouver via the Seabus and pop by the North Shore Twilight Market to score a great start to your weekend.  Featuring 75+ vendors, plenty of food trucks to satiate your appetite, a beer garden (yup!) and live entertainment (not to mention a killer backdrop of the Vancouver cityscape), it’s worth the trip.

Revenge of the Art Show takes place Friday at 2206 Main Street (Hot Art Wet City) and is worth stopping by, featuring more than 50 artists participating in this show that’s 30 years in the making. Look for pieces that celebrate cinematic pop culture hits like Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Gremlins, The Karate Kid, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Purple Rain, The Terminator, Revenge of the Nerds, and plenty more.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Velopalooza is back for another weekend loaded with bike-friendly fun around town. This organization aims to promote fun bike rides and activities in Vancouver and surrounding areas with everything from Bike Polo to festivals, a tall bike jousting tournament and massive group rides. There’s no excuse not to get out on your two-wheeler. Check out their community calendar for all the event listings taking place this weekend..

Saturday

Ever wanted to learn more about the fine art of drawing? Well, Vancouver Draw Down is the perfect place to head to this weekend to find out. It’s a citywide day of drawing focused on the artistic medium and features more than 45 different free drawing workshops to celebrate. For all the draw down details, click here.

Plan to make a day of it and head over to the Trout Lake Farmers Market early in the day before heading over to check out the West End and new Kerrisdale farmers markets. With fresh produce delivered daily and hundreds of vendors participating, get fully stocked. For all the details and to learn more about other local markets, click here.

No plans for Saturday night? Don’t miss An Evening With Oliver Stone. To kick off of The Vancouver Biennale and its new CineFest LIVE program, they’re featuring one of two public events featuring Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone on Saturday, June 14th. Often controversial, always stimulating, both events offer a rare opportunity for the public to engage with one of the most provocative documentary filmmakers of our time.

Sunday

Father’s Day is on Sunday. If you haven’t already booked dad for a round at the golf course or settled on brunch, you might want to head over to UBC (pre-book a tee time here) and treat dad to a bite down at Granville Island’s Dockside Restaurant for a special Father’s Day BBQ. They’ll have all the grilled goods: salmon, pork shoulder, Fraser Valley chicken, smoked brisket and then some. Reserve your spot by calling 604.685.7070.
