Friday

The Vancouver Firefighters’ Charitable Society is geared up to host the first Friday Night Live card of the season at Hastings Racetrack in support of the first annual Firefighters’ Rundown @ SunDown. Head over and support the participating teams as they compete in a one-lap race around the track, enjoy live music, plenty of food and booze, and an entertaining awards ceremony as you cheer on the entrants who are helping build community and a sense of teamwork while raising funds for charity.  Event starts at 7pm and goes until late.

The Rio Theatre is featuring a cinematic adventure marathon this Friday night with a late-night screening of the Indiana Jones Trilogy. Dress up as your best-looking renegade explorer and save $2 on admission. First flick gets rolling at 7pm and goes until late (with licensed bar). 1660 E. Broadway.

If you haven’t already checked out Playland at the PNE, this is the weekend to do it.  Unleash your inner kid and score a stack of tickets, beeline your way to one of the many rides, brave it through a haunted house, and catch a free concert.

Harmony Arts Festival is on for its final weekend of oceanfront fun over in West Vancouver and definitely worth checking out.   Bike over the bridge and avoid traffic mayhem to chill out at this food, arts and music festival that attracts thousands of people.  Don’t miss the Art of Food, live performances by local musicians, vendor marketplace, free outdoor movies at dusk and more.

The Vancouver Chinatown Festival takes place this weekend and is a fantastic way to get out and explore all that this bustling community has to offer. Don’t miss the Dumpling Cook Off and Derby that’ll pit 20 different restaurants against each other for the prized title. Score a passport to taste them all for $25 (don’t wait, they’ll sell out) and gear up to explore the city’s largest night market, enjoy live performances, music and plenty more.
