Tyrone Edwards, aka T-RexXx, is best known for being the host of E! Movie Night, one of the creators of 1 LOVE T.O., and the former host on MuchMusic’s RapCity. He is equally notorious for holding his place as one of Toronto’s most best-dressed men.
When it comes to his look, Tyrone considers what fashion has to offer and layers these trends with what he thinks is cool. Though he has fun with his style, Tyrone favors the more polished mode of a gentleman. “I will take any excuse to wear a sharp suit, though I enjoy including my own modern twist and individual style in conjunction with the more classic approach of a suit or tuxedo.”
There are limitless options for the modern male, but many fashion-conscious men are making bold statements with their socks. Tyrone appears to be the connoisseur of socks in Toronto. He has even come up with the term and hashtag “#soxxxy” from a take on his nickname T-RexXx – combining the words socks and sexy.
“I used to pride myself on not wearing socks at all, but in the last two years I have increasingly discovered the importance of socks in both my wardrobe and style. This comes from my progressive effort to present myself as a gentleman from head to toe. It is important to look polished in every way possible to portray the proper image you want and it is in all of the details that you make your desired impression. My hair and facial hair, teeth, body, tattoos, hands and feet, and exhibiting style and charm in what I wear, all tells a story about who I am, but my favorite accent to complete my look is my choice of socks.”
“Socks have the ability to play lead or supporting role in each presentation, and this is why you need options… lots and lots of options… to ensure a proper portrayal of your presence.” Tyrone is not kidding about needing options – the biggest drawer in his closet is dedicated to his sock collection.
Socks are a way for men to stand out at work, a way to personalize their looks, and a brilliant way to add any missing colour or accents into their ensembles. Using these pops of colour, and bold prints are also great ways to colour-coordinate and complete each look. These days, socks are designed to match men’s ties, pocket squares and even patterns on their blazers.
