Air Canada Launches New Program Offering Free Stopovers in Toronto

For many travellers, planning a vacation to Toronto simply isn’t in the cards. It’s not really “on the way” to many places, after all.

But with the hope of attracting more international travellers, Air Canada has launched a new stopover program that allows travellers with outbound or return flights through Toronto to stay for up to seven days without being charged any additional airfare fees.

In other words, it allows you to get two vacations for the price of one. Yes, you read that correctly. Not to mention travellers have the opportunity to hang out and explore one of the world’s most multicultural and vibrant cities.

This program is ideal for travellers with flexible schedules who are interested in being able to add an extra city to their travel itinerary without having to break the bank.

Air Canada believes Americans will the biggest fans of the program as they might appreciate the convenience of Toronto’s proximity, as well as the favourable exchange rate.

The airline took notes from Icelandair, which introduced an extended stopover program in the ’60s as a way to bring more tourists to the isolated island nation at no additional charge. The program proved to be a huge success.

Air Canada hasn’t announced how long they’ll offer the program, so it’s best to book those flights ASAP.
