Two Air Transat Pilots Arrested for Drinking Before Flight From Glasgow to Toronto

For some, 35,000 feet in the air simply isn’t high enough.

Such is the case for two Air Transat pilots who were arrested yesterday on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol shortly before they were due to take off from Glasgow en route to Toronto.

They will now be subject to an investigation that will determine whether or not they were fit to fly.

“Air Transat has learned of the arrest on July 18 of two crew members assigned to its Glasgow-Toronto flight,” airline spokesman Pierre Tessier said in a statement. “We will await the results of the investigation and judicial proceedings before commenting on the matter before making any further comments.”

Naturally, passengers on the flight were stricken with perplex at the accusation.

Perhaps more alarming is just how close they were to getting away with their drink ‘n fly escapade – a last-ditch alert by cabin crew kept WoozyWingz Flight TS725, with 250 passengers aboard, grounded.

Hard to imagine a title you’d want to see next to “drunk’ less than pilot.
