Towa Sushi

In a town known for its red meat, it’s not always easy to find great sushi in Calgary, especially when you crave as much as you can get. Instead of letting quality suffer in our quest for quantity, we hit up Towa Sushi. With generously portioned rolls (you’ll only need one order per person) and beautiful presentation, Towa Sushi has made a name for itself in Calgary.

To get your meal started right, be sure to try the deep fried Agedashi Tofu served with tempura sauce and garnished with grated daikon and fresh ginger, or try the Sashimi Cocktail with soy sauce dressing. There are also a few different kinds of inventive salads, including the Calamari and Baby Spinach Salad and the Towa Duck Salad.

You’ll want to bring a friend if you’re planning on going to Towa Sushi because, though all of their rolls are excellent, the whole point of going out for sushi is to eat a variety of things rather than feast on a single roll for your entire meal. Be sure to check out the inventive specials such as the Black and White Roll with salmon, deep fried tempura, cucumber, avocado, black and white sesame seeds and capelin roe. For something a little bit more spicy, try the Fire Cracker roll which combines the Mexican flavours of jalapeno tempura with sour cream and smoked salmon. Towa Sushi also delivers on the standards by offering delicious favourites such as the Spicy Salmon Roll and the Crispy Tuna Roll.

If you’re dining in a big group, check out the sushi assortments that are best enjoyed by multiple people. Towa offers Chirashi, which is a variety of sashimi and sushi rice, and other deluze sushi and sashimi assortments.

If you’re dining with someone who isn’t a total sushi convert, Towa offers several different kinds of tempura, as well as Chicken Teriyaki, so they can have something to nibble on while learning that when the sushi is as delicious as it is at Towa, there’s nothing to be afraid of.
