Toronto’s Best Hills for Tobogganing

When’s the last time you hit the hills for a good, old-fashioned toboggan ride? No matter where you live, Toronto is full of some pretty sweet toboggan spots. If tobogganing doesn’t make a great (and affordable) team building or date option, we don’t know what does

Remember snow days? Aka today.

Whether you take your niece and nephew, gather a group of friends or make a date out of it, it’s time to dust off your sled from your parents’ place and hit the slopes.

Meaning: one of the city’s numerous toboggan hills.

Here are 7 of Toronto’s best tobogganing spots..

Christie Pits
Conveniently located on the subway line, Christie Pits offers three different hills for a little variety in your toboggan game. As an added bonus, it’s a short walk over to neighbouring Bickford Park, which has some of its own hills.

Withrow Park
Withrow Park offers a relatively short but steep hill, complete with stairs to make the hike back up a little easier. Given the demographic of the surrounding neighbourhood, you can expect it to be packed with children – so don’t forget your patience.

Centennial Park
If you’re a seasoned tobogganner , it’s worth the mission to Etobicoke to hit Centennial Park. The park is known for its ski slopes, but there is also an adjacent tobogganing hill that offers more speed than the rest thanks to its steep slope.

Riverdale Park
If you feel ambitious, you can toboggan hop on over from Withrow to Riverdale Park. Perks include an incredible view of the city (perfect for a little night toboggan) and a steep, straight hill.

Trinity Bellwoods Park
Trinity Bellwoods can be just as fun in the winter as it is on summer Sunday Fundays. Not to mention, you have no shortage of brunch and coffee options in the Queen West neighbourhood for when your feet start to go numb.

Lithuania Park
So it’s not exactly central (it’s located at Keele Street and Glenlake Avenue), but the hills at Lithuania Park aren’t too shabby. It offers the adrenaline kick of a high, steep hill and is more of a hidden gem than the rest.

Sir Winston Churchill Park
Just north of Casa Loma, Winston Churchill Park offers the city’s steepest hill, complete with walkways and stairs to help with the climb back up. Be prepared to break your sled.
