Toronto Weekender: March 28 through 31, 2013

Thursday
We adore our Japanese cuisine, eh? Another Asian restaurant has opened up at 1404 Yonge Street called Bushi Udon Kappo. What sets this new deliverer of deliciousness apart from some its counterparts is that their noodles (udon, from the name) are actually house-made. With sharing plates and sushi offerings to boot, Bushi Udon Kappo is bringing a trifecta of Japanese cuisine to midtown, and to your Thursday night dinner.

Get ready to stitch your sides at Kitch for Funny Bunnies Easter Show. This hip joint in the junction is tops when it comes to hosting events, and their comedy nights are no exception. With nine comedians on tap, not to mention the beer on tap as well, Kitch Komedy is a best bet to launch your long weekend.

Friday
It looks like Toronto has a new hot spot in Media Bar, tucked away behind the Hyatt on King Street. As its name would suggest, the new space makes numerous nods to the vintage media world. This is reflected in everything from the décor to the website and even menu. They’re hosting three days of long weekend events, continuing tonight with The Good.

It may be Good Friday but you can get a little naughty with #PartyPeopleTO’s #ParlourPartyTO. Driven by social media heavyweight attendees, this is one drinks and dancing night that is network and socially friendly. Three DJs and your chance to help raise funds for a campaign for cancer make this one notable event.

Saturday
For dinner Saturday, check out the newly opened Darwin Bar in the space that once held L.A.B. Restaurant on College West. Featuring a meat-centric menu and a beautifully chic Toronto space with a restaurant length exposed brick wall, Darwin is anything but a devolution on the culinary scene.

It’s all heat at The Hoxton Saturday night for the Miami Music Week Reunion. Featuring DJ Arno Cost alongside eMDy, the walls will be shaking and the speakers blaring as you dance your way through Friday night-repeated thanks to the impending day off.

Sunday
The hottest brunch ticket today is the pop-up at the newly opened Northwood. Featuring a $20 prix fixe three-course gourmet menu, this special edition brunch pop-up will satisfy any soul. From roasted squash with vanilla and soy nutmeg foam to soy banana pudding, this meal is a definite must-check-out for any fanatical foodie.

On this the holy day, get a little red in The Darkroom at Bloke and 4th. With DJs Andy Warburton and Sam Haze tapped to bring the beats, and Bloke’s babes working the room, this is the hottest way to bring on your Monday day off.
