Toronto Weekender: January 31 through February 2, 2013

Between Winterlicious and the Super Bowl, there’s nary a reason to rest on one’s laurels this weekend. We’ve got some of the best and brightest of the scene for you, so read on and get ready to YP-it outta control…

Thursday
The Federal has finally launched its evening service after months of wowing us with its definitely divine daytime eats. Now you can get all governmental and such before drinks at your favourite Thursday night hangouts.

Speaking of Thursday night drinks, one of our favourite spots is House of Moments, and tonight, they’re hosting Defining Moments, inviting you to National Projections – an evening of interactive art engaging Canadians from coast to coast to coast. With an Art Battle, artist exhibits, and satellite linkups to other sites across Canada, this is one interactive evening you don’t want to miss.

Friday
Can you believe it’s February already? Just sayin…

Go homegrown at Little Anthony’s for Winterlicious dinner. They’re amping up the prix fixe action by tossing in a pint of favourite hometown beer Steam Whistle. Nosh on the amazing Italian fare on offer and get in a groove with some perfectly paired brew.

MIDNGHT MRKT launches Friday night for the first of a monthly market event series that brings music, drinks and street style food together at the same time as showcasing outstanding artists, designers and cool collectors in a stunning curated space. This is certainly one of those something for everyone events, and something you don’t want to miss…

Saturday
At the Drake Hotel on Saturday, indulge in a delicious and decadent three-course brunch before shopping through pop-ups of local design talent including jewelry, apparel, and accessories. In partnership with the Toronto Fashion Incubator, the Guilty Pleasures brunch combines both food and fashion in a wholly Toronto way.

Whether or not you trust the Weather Network, there is indeed a cold front hitting Toronto this weekend. Isolated at Ontario Place, this barometric shift has but one name: BrrrrrTO. Yes, the February music fest to end all February music fests, BrrrrrTO sees acts like Moby and Dubfire spinning and performing for a mass crowd. Catch it Friday night or spend your Saturday groovin’ to the beats.

Spend a night with friends on Saturday. OK… well… not your friends. Amsterdam and Friends (as in the brewery) are taking over Bar Volo for a night of 26 unique taps and 6 different casks. Hogtown Charcuterie will be providing food for the evening and DJ Trappist will be spinning late in the night.

Sunday
Some sort of sporting event is on Sunday afternoon. It seems… big. Yes the Super Ball… er… Super Bowl is taking over airwaves internationally, and we’ve quite the swell of spots ready to get in on the action. The following 5 spots will all be blaring the game and puttin’ on the show, and any will present ya with a notable time…

One: The Official Super Bowl Party at Sound Academy
Cheerleaders, tailgate eats, NFL personalities, and tons of projection screens make this the pinnacle of football parties.

Two: Wayne Gretzky’s
The Great One’s bar is a great spot to catch all the action, with food specials and tons o’ screens.

Three: Rally Sports Bar
Yes, East Yorkers, even you have a happening joint to catch this year’s Super Bowl.

Four: Indoor Tailgate Party at 99 Sudbury
While driving your 4×4 into the space at 99 Sudbury isn’t necessarily encouraged, they’re tailgatin’ it up indoors for the big game.

Five: Murphy’s Law
Fitty Cent’ll be peeved they’re relegating his moniker to the price of wings for Super Bowl Sunday at Murphy’s Law.
