How a Toronto Model Became the Real Star of the Golden Globes

Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony showcased some of the biggest names in entertainment.

But it wasn’t Rami Malek, or Sandra Oh, or Mahershala Ali making waves on the red carpet. No, that part of the show was dominated by Toronto model Kelleth Cuthbert, aka Fiji Water girl.

Wherever you looked, there she lurked – poised, pleasant, posted up with a tray of bottled water. By the end of the evening, the spotlight belonged wholly and truly to the Fiji Photobomber. Did anyone else even attend the Golden Globes? Does it matter?

Kelleth is far from the first or only Fiji Water ambassador to score visibility on a big stage – such marketing ploys are at the heart of the brand’s mission to make a basic human right spendthrift-chic – but never has one outshone the stars they’re hired to hydrate. (A little background: Kelleth is an L.A.-based model and actress from Toronto whose Instagram following has tripled since Sunday morning. She’s also married, so chill).

Needless to say, she’s parlayed the situation into an upcoming appearance on The Late Show With James Cordon, as well as a Twitter account.

What a world.
